Rocking Pioneer Square

This club opened in 1991 just at the time local rock blasted into the stratosphere. Located in the Terry-Denny Building built in 1889 as the Northern Hotel when Seattle tried to recover from the Great Fire. It was a small spot that gave breaks to emerging artists. Bands that played the Colourbox included Sunday Driver, Supersonic Soul Pimps, The Fire Ants (featuring former members of Nirvana and Malfunkshun,) Artis the Spoonman, Silly Rabbit, Lloyd’s Rocket, Skin Picnic, Metal Church, Black Moses, Rorschach Test, & Critters Buggin who played their 1st show under that name here in 1993.
