The South Lake Union Streetcar, affectionately nicknamed by locals as the South Lake Union Trolley, or the S.L.U.T., carries unwitting passengers back and forth 1.3 miles between Seattle’s vibrant downtown core and Paul Allen’s geek empire – home to technology leaders Amazon.com and many others. Whether you want to be one or just ride one, express your secret desires with this darling, but questionably coined acronym.

Providing a new way to connect the burgeoning Westlake and South Lake Union neighborhoods to the rest of downtown. With the city’s long-standing public transportation woes and Monorail vs. Light Rail campaigns (or debacles, depending how you voted), there’s definitely a major movement underway to make it easier to get from Point A to Point B without having to deal with parking. About a mile in each direction, the streetcar takes riders along an 11-stop route from Westlake Center to the new waterfront park and on to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. So, now that we’ve all paid for it, let’s climb aboard  and actually use it!
